Your registration in this course includes attendance in our live embodied retreat, Crossing the Threshold.**
Participating in this retreat, whether virtually or in person, promises to be a transformative encounter that will invigorate and enrich your approach to childbirth. Immerse yourself in a supportive environment for purposeful self-discovery, honing skills, and gaining fresh insights into birth through storytelling, birth art, ritual, and deepened community connection. These elements enhance and allow you to embody the knowledge gained in this course.
You can request a voucher Code to register for an upcoming retreat for free here. Please note that attending a Crossing the Threshold is required for certification. The retreat is available virtually and in-person, and both as a full weekend or five week series. The in-person retreats require a $50 additional payment. These are answers to frequently asked questions about attendance at Crossing the Threshold (CtT), specifically for those wishing to complete certification as a birth doula or childbirth educator in Birth as a Heroic Journey. The policies outlined here are intended to support participants in having the complete experience of a CtT retreat, and the full opportunity to explore and embody the Birthing from Within processes and frameworks that they will be bringing to parents. Is attending a CtT required for certification?
Yes, attendance at a CtT is part of the certification requirements for our Birth as a Heroic Journey program. The Crossing the Threshold retreat is included in the registration cost of Birth as a Heroic Journey CBE and Doula courses. Even if you are not planning to certify, we encourage you to register and receive the benefits of this retreat.
When do I have to attend a CtT to complete the requirement for certification?
You may attend a CtT anytime after you register for BaHJ and for the duration of your 18 month course access period. If you need a course extension, please contact us at contact@birthingfromwithin.com.
What is the attendance policy for CtT if I am using it towards certification?
We require you to attend CtT’s in full. CtT’s are not recorded. In case of emergency, we have a grace period for this requirement, as follows. For CtT weekend immersions, if you miss over two hours, we require that you transfer to another CtT and attend that event in full to complete the certification requirement. For a CtT Series, if you miss between 30 minutes to 1 hour of one session or more we ask that you transfer to another CtT (series or immersion) and attend the event in full to complete the certification requirement. Please complete the CtT Transfer Form for any transfer requests. You will be required to pay a $50 transfer fee.
What if I get called to birth or have another last minute need that prohibits me from attending?
We understand that the nature of birth, and sometimes life, is unpredictable, and we want to accommodate you as best as possible! Space in CtTs is limited; having people cancel last minute impacts our ability to fill the event, as well as impacts other participants' experiences. If you are unable to attend, please email contact@birthingfromwithin.com as soon as possible. Then fill out the CtT Transfer Form and we will do our best to transfer you into another CtT. You will be required to pay a $50 transfer fee.
What if the CtT I transfer into gets canceled?
Occasionally, Birthing from Within may cancel a planned event. In this case, you may choose from any of the available dates to transfer into, or to receive a refund.* There will be no transfer fee required. *If you have registered for CtT as part of BaHJ, no refunds will be given.
