Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the Touch From Within perinatal bodywork program, participants will be able to:

1. Demonstrate authentic validation and communication.

2. Describe how one knows embodied consent is happening.

3. Ask questions of clients* that create connection and self-awareness.

4. Share and integrate at least one visualization/metaphor/story into the bodywork session.

5. Describe the most essential information needed for client intake.

6. Position and drape client safely and creatively.

7. Demonstrate effective and efficient body mechanics and model this for clients.

8. Identify basic structural anatomical landmarks and work safety around areas of caution.

9. Describe the major physiological changes that perinatal clients often experience and how they relate to bodywork adjustments.

10. Identify scope of practice of and possible contraindications to perinatal massage and discern when referral, medical release, or technique modification may be necessary.

11. Apply the DANCES approach to any portion of the body, while holistically customizing the session to client needs/constitution/trimester.

12. Describe and demonstrate techniques that may address five common client concerns.

13. List at least three strategies for coping with challenging client and/or practitioner situations.
