Through a blend of modern knowledge, practical techniques, and empathetic communication strategies, participants will gain the necessary tools to provide compassionate and effective support during this critical stage of many parents’ birth journeys, including how to a maintain a sense of privacy, personalization, and ceremony, even with a more medicalized experience.
Induction Techniques: Delve into the various methods, tools, and procedures involved in the medical induction of labor, as well as “natural” approaches.
Emotional Support Techniques: Explore strategies for providing emotional support to parents considering, anticipating, or experiencing induction, including listening actively, inviting solution-focused understandings and reframes, validating feelings, creating connection, and fostering a sense of empowerment and autonomy.
Physical Coping Techniques: Acquire practical skills in assisting parents with physical coping during the induction process, such as positioning and movement, hands-on support, relaxation/mindfulness, and other pain management strategies.
Communication and Advocacy: Develop effective communication skills to facilitate informed decision-making and advocacy for parents within the medical setting, promoting collaborative relationships with healthcare providers.
This course is one session that is three hours long led by a certified BfW Facilitator on Zoom.
