I’m honored to welcome you to the Birthing from Within community!

I consider it sacred work, to hold and guide your path of mentoring parents and families in the childbearing year. I am excited to be sharing with you the powerful ancient maps for modern birth and guiding you to the depths that come from seeing birth as a Heroic Journey.

I first connected briefly with Pam England’s paradigm-shifting book, Birthing from Within, with the birth of my child in 2007. During my surprisingly intense labor experience I found such tender but boldly honest validation in those pages.  But it wasn’t until years later as a birth worker that I was cracked open to the true power of this approach when I took my first training and Pam’s compassionate questions planted deep seeds of healing and awareness around both my own and my clients’ birth experiences.  I studied Birth Story Listening and certified as a Mentor in 2016, and as a Facilitator in 2020.   I’m incredibly blessed to live and work in the San Diego area, on the traditional land of the Kumeyaay people, with such a vibrant BfW community of storytellers and birth workers. This brilliant, compassionate, and radically loving approach to childbirth preparation and integration has permeated all areas of my work and life, including as a mother, a friend, a lover, a daughter, an educator and practitioner of bodywork and massage, a childbirth educator, and a birth doula.

Being in relationship with human and other-than-human beings, hearing a story, doing dream work, witnessing a client release shame, dancing and movement, conversing with plants in the garden, and honoring moments of ceremony in the setting of a table, the knitting of a scarf, drawing a pelvis, the simple power of touch…these are the things that nourish me most.

This path of mentoring is not an easy one.  But as I’ve crossed so many thresholds Birthing from Within continues to hold me, to beat the drum for me as I meet the wild edge of the unknown in my bodywork practice, my birth work, and my ever-evolving and ever-whole-ing sense of who I am in the world. May it do the same for you as we continue to transform birth in our culture.
