When I was pregnant in 2007, the Birthing From Within book touched my heart and revealed a longing I hadn’t known was there: to be supported by a knowing community through the rite of passage of becoming a parent. In 2010 I attended my first Birthing from Within training and experienced a major paradigm shift. Since then, Birthing from Within has continued to push my edges and has found its way into every part of my life.

Today I am the director of a nonprofit that offers community-based support for birthing people and incarcerated individuals in Pittsburgh, PA. Here I have the opportunity to apply the Birthing from Within approach to a variety of classes, situations, and births, in English and Spanish.

I am interested in exploring the ways that creativity and storytelling open up space for new perspectives, conversations, and connections. I am also an Intentional Creativity practitioner and teacher. I enjoy guiding people on deep dives into painting, as well as adding tiny doses of art to any topic.

All parents are new parents. At each stage we face new thresholds, new questions, new archetypes. The story is continually being rewritten. Right now I’m on the heroic journey of being a parent of two teens. Along the way I enjoy painting, doing a little yoga, and walking in the woods.
