Equity in Birthing from Within

Birthing from Within recognizes that past and present systems of oppression have resulted in many birthing people, particularly Black parents, being marginalized from access to optimal care and support, resulting in tremendous disparities in health outcomes.

We believe that to change systems of oppression, there must be investment in and amplification of those with lived experience in those systems, who are best positioned to provide culturally relevant mentorship and support.

We recognize that many cultures and communities have long-standing traditions of perinatal care; our goal is to complement this work in ways that are useful to practitioners.

We believe that perinatal support for all birthing people is a key contribution to the project of collective liberation.
