Lauren LevwoodTrained Birthing from Within Childbirth Educator Lauraina Levwood Birth & Bodywork
My vocational path is somatically and spiritually oriented. In 2002, I received a BA in Dance and Philosophy from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. After undergrad I became interested in childbirth, and in 2003 I traveled to The Farm in TN to study midwifery with Ina May Gaskin. I attended postpartum doula training through DONA International in Charlottesville, VA in 2005, and formally shifted from a career in dance to a career in birth support.
In 2008, I was certified as a massage therapist at the Boulder College of Massage Therapy in Boulder, CO. In 2011, I began training with Birthing From Within as well as Cornerstone Doulas, a birth doula training program taught by a homebirth midwife in Oakland, CA. In 2015, I traveled to Portland, OR to become a Holistic Pelvic Care practitioner. My birth and bodywork practice has thrived and moved with me from 2005-present.
All formal training aside, my most intimate and impactful introduction to birth came in 2013, when I gave birth to my daughter, Haya.
Over the years I have attended seven Birthing From Within trainings, including two Introductory Retreats, Birth Story Listening, Birth Art Process, a week-long Advanced Retreat, a year-long Eagle’s Express, and am currently in the final stages to become a certified mentor.
I look forward to supporting you in your birth journey! I am available to support you as a client locally as well as online.
